Westchester Home Reveal

Today I am so excited to share the after photos of a Westchester Home we have been working on for almost two years. It was a joy working with this lovely family, and help them combine their modern fresh style with their traditional home.

The changes are jaw-dropping. For this project, we made entire home decisions like paint color, trim selection, light fixture selection and floor finish but we also designed three main rooms: the kitchen, primary bath and kid bath.

The Vision

Our main objective was bringing in on trend modern elements while still honoring the integrity of the home’s traditional architecture. We chose to do this through a neutral pallet, natural stones and modern fixtures.

The Kitchen

The kitchen underwent a dramatic change. It went from a dark space with a lot of competing wood tones to a fresh clean space that has a calm and joyful feeling to it. I can already see the Christmas cookies being made, friends laughing around the island and glasses of wine being poured.

For the cabinets, we had them repainted a beautiful warm white and added antique brass knobs and pulls. The countertops and backsplash had depth and dimension without being too busy.

The Primary Bath

For the primary bath, we wanted to make this another fresh space that promoted a calm and relaxing feeling. We kept the neutral color palette, yet warmed things up with a custom double vanity and added hardware and light fixtures with a ton of character and dimension.

The Kid Bath

I really love how the kid bath came out because it is cohesive with the entire home, but the darker paint and smaller marble subway tile make it feel distinct and playful. The penny tile on the floor, with the bath tile help combine that traditional and modern feel we were going for.

The Entire Home

Almost every room in the house was touched by this major renovation. The floors were replaced with a light oak, the trim was swapped out, the light fixtures updated and lots of painting was done. The entire home has such a fresh modern feel while still boasting a ton of character.

“Ettie has been such a pleasure to work with! She took time to really understood the look we were going for in our home and we have loved everything she’s recommended. Her eye for design is amazing! She’s incredibly organized, communicative, and responsive, helping us to feel confident making design decisions as we do major renovations to our home. She’s exactly what we were looking for in a designer and we couldn’t be happier with how everything is coming together!”
